Artist Statement
Goss is a multimedia sculptor who focuses on materials, formalism, and minimalism. Using non-traditional mediums, such as foam, cardboard, and fabric, he creates non-representational objects.
Drawn to repetition and modularity, his sculptures begin with geometric elements, recreating them to produce the whole. Gravitating towards his love of math and puzzles, the work is configured through a planned process of precise angles to extract the form. Along with this, Goss creates harmonious relationships where each element fits together and complement each other.
Experimental processes further assist in the determination of the object, focusing on form and color. In turn, every artwork Goss makes breaks the boundaries of what others think should be considered contemporary art. In the words of Frank Stella, “What you see is what you see”.
